AYTerminal2The Antalya Airport is the second largest airport in Turkey in terms of the number of annual passengers handled in 2004. Istanbul and Ankara Airports were in the first and third ranks respectively. In 2004, Antalya Airport handled 13.7 million passengers, 1.09 million of whom traveled on domestic services and 12.61 million passengers on international services. The AYT2 which has been completed in a very short time, 11 months, by the contribution of 3500 workers and has commenced the operations on 7 April 2005. IC İÇTAŞ will operate the terminal, AYT2, with Çelebi Holding for a concession period of 4 years and 7 months. The Terminal and its ancillaries (AYT2) consist of a 77.056-square meter, four-levels (one basement, two principal levels plus a mezzanine level) terminal building served by 12 aircraft boarding bridge gates, and a 73.500 square meter open car park with 753 vehicles capacity. A passenger lounge for boarding and departing flights served by remotely parked aircraft docking guidance system is also incorporated in the international terminal, which has separate processing facilities for arriving and departing international passengers via privately owned aircrafts and international VIP passengers. Support facilities including the terminal access road, expanded aircraft hydrant fuelling system, additional airfield parking aprons, new water supplies and a solid waste disposal plant were also included in the project. With its solid waste disposal and heating systems compatible with natural gas, the terminal is environment friendly. There are also spacious social areas with buffets, child care departments, playing grounds and rooms for briefings and private meetings. A CCTV System incorporating advanced technology controls the whole terminal. Screens and advanced telecommunication networks facilitate the capability for instant intervention. Building Support Electronic Systems SCADA, Intercom, Telephone, Building Automation System, Fire Alarm System, Data Cabling Network, HVAC Control and Master Clock. The Baggage Handling System: The Automatic Barcode System sends the luggage to the loading area directly or disables it in case a passenger does not board the plane. Automatic Scanners direct the baggage items to the final destination in transfer flights. Elevators/escalators, Aircraft Docking Guidance System, CUTE and CDB Systems, Baggage Handling System, Flight Information Display System and Public Address System provide rapid information exchange with the world terminals; furthermore, data control is facilitated through these systems.
